PartnerJane W. Moscowitz concentrates her professional practice in the areas of federal and state criminal defense and business litigation. A former Senior Litigation Counsel in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida, she has served as lead trial attorney in over 60 white collar criminal and civil jury trials and numerous bench trials. Jane graduated magna cum laude with a degree in accounting from the University of Houston in 1968. She earned a Master of Science degree in computer science from Rutgers University in 1973 before attending Harvard Law School, where she graduated with a J.D. in 1977. She first worked for the Department of Justice as part of its Honors Program in the Public Integrity Section and then was an Assistant United States Attorney in Baltimore, Maryland, from 1978-1982. In 1982, she and Norman moved to Miami to become Assistant U.S. Attorneys for the Southern District of Florida. While an AUSA in the Miami office, Jane was awarded the Department of Justice's prestigious John Marshall Award, the Department of Justice's highest award for trial work. Jane is active as a speaker and panelist on white-collar criminal defense topics, for the ABA White-Collar Crime Institute, NACDL, and the Florida Bar. In the recent past, she has spoken on and participated in panels on ethics for criminal defense lawyers, money laundering, sentencing, and basics of criminal law for new Florida lawyers. Jane was recently inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers. She is also a fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, Litigation Counsel of America, and the Florida and American Bar Foundations. Jane's pro bono activities include membership for eight years on the Miami-Dade County School Board Ethics Advisory Committee, including a term as Chair; work for the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center; serving on the Steering Committee for the biennial Criminal Justice Ethics Symposium given by the University of Miami (2002-2007); Foster Care Review; and assisting numerous charitable organizations and political candidates. She has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America for over twenty years. She has been listed in Best Lawyers, Lawyer of the Year, Miami (2016; 2018). The Daily Business Review named her one of the Most Effective Lawyers in criminal defense in 2005, and nominated her for the same honor in 2010.
